  birinci dunya savasi'ndan sonra ingilizler istanbul'u isgal edince hindistandaki muslumanlar halifenin sehrinin teslim olmasina kendilerine yedirememislerdi. bu yuzden hindistan'da osmanli lehinde buyuk bir kampanya baslamisti. bunun uzerine the nation and the athenaeum'un 30 eylul 1922 sayisinda "india and the turk" baslikli bir makale kaleme almistir. yazida soyle der:
