• 1941 yılında 19 yaşındayken kamboçya kralı olmuş, ülkesini fransa sömürgesi olmaktan çıkartıp bağımsızlığına kavuşturmuştur. 70lerde khmer rougelar yani komünist gerillalar ile vietnam savaşı sırasında işbirliği yapmış daha sonra khmer rougelara karşı kurulan bi hükümet ile krallığına devam etmiştir.
