• cape town'daki çok meşhur restoran. long street'te bulunmaktadır. 1995 yılında açılmış. afrika mutfağından yemek servis ederler. menülerinde timsah, geyik, impala, devekuşu gibi hayvanların etleri bulunur. şehirdeki en güzel canlı müzik yapılan yerlerden biridir.

• ünlü finlandiyalı yönetmen aki kaurismaki’nin ağabeyi mika kaurismaki’nin güney afrikalı şarkıcı miriam makeba’nın hayatını anlatan belgeseli, düz bir anlatımla ilerleyen “konuşan kafalar” tarzında bir belgesel olmasına rağmen izleyeni sıkmadan derdini anlatıyor. tabi bunda makeba’nın renkli kişiliğinin ve şarkılarının da etkisi büyük. makeba sadece nelson mandela gibi siyah-beyaz çatışmasının sembol isimlerinden biri değil, aynı zamanda afrika kıtasının birliği ve bütünlüğü için de pek çok girişimde bulunan, amerika’daki kara panter partisi’nde etkin olan stokely carmichael’la evlenen ve hayatını afrikalıların bağımsızlığına adayan bir aktivist. kaurismaki, makeba’nın ailesi ve arkadaşları aracılığıyla onun anısını yaşatırken, malcolm x ve nelson mandela gibi ikonlaşmış isimlerin de özgürlük mücadelesinin arkasında yatan “adanmışlığı” ortaya çıkarıyor.
