• 3 mayis’ta atenco sehrinde (san salvador, meksika) izinsiz cicek sattiklari bahanesiyle polisin cicekcilere saldirmasiyla basladi korku filmi… halkin direnis gostermesi uzerine, polis once goz yasartici bomba kullandi, sonra ates acti. 14 yasinda bir cocuk hayatini kaybetti. polisin evlere de saldirmasi sonucu yuzlerce kisi tutuklandi. tutuklular yogun iskence gordu. kadin tutuklulara tecavuz edildi.
  
  olaylar karsisinda, ‘todos desde su lugar y en su modo’ yani ‘herkesin kendi bulundugu yerde kendi tarziyla’ ses vermesi istendi.
  19 mayis gunu gozalti, iskence ve ozellikle kadinlara yonelik taciz ve tecavuzleri protesto etmek uzere ve tutsaklarin saliverilmesi talebiyle 22 ulkede toplam 85 eylem yapildi.

  “…..mexican police raped 30 of the 47 women political prisoners arrested this month in san salvador atenco according to the legal complaints filed with mexico’s national human rights commission. and the mexican government acknowledges that it expelled five foreign nationals (four of them women, each of whom has testified that she was sexually tortured by police) after the now-deported visitors heroically documented the police raids and brutality there on may 4. to cover up the atrocity, the government of vicente fox stole their cameras and film (along with their passports and money) then shipped them back to their home countries — spain, germany and chile — on one-way flights, expelled, each of them, from mexico for five years….”
  
  “…..the zapatistas declared a red alert on may 3rd in regard to the calamitous situation in texcoco and san salvador atenco, towns just outside of the mexican capital. just before, police had attempted to drive flower vendors in texcoco from their market to make way for a wal-mart. the community resisted, over a hundred were arrested, and police used tear gas and live ammunition, killing a 14 year-old boy, javier cortés santiago. the police continued with a campaign of terror, attacking and dragging from their homes hundreds of people suspected of activism. according to the daily el universal nearly two hundred were then charged with "organized delinquency," a charge that does not allow for bail and can lead to sentences from two to ten years in prison……”

  we women, workers of the country and city, housewives, students, etc.; political prisoners since the 3rd and 4th of may of the current year, are enraged by the formal indictment handed down on may 10th. not only were we insulted, humiliated, beaten, tortured, sexually abused, and raped, but now we are also prisoners and delinquents. we have lived with repression, not only in social struggle, but also in a particular way as women, because if it’s true that the men were beaten the hardest, we were attacked sexually and raped.
  
  we were submitted to every type of repression during our detention, first with insults like “you are a bitch,” “goddamn fucking bitch,” “we’re going to rape you like the bitch that you are,” etc.; and then, not content to beat us, for some, unconscious, they threatened to kill or disappear us, even to torture us into giving names and information of our families with the threat to kill them, too.
  
  nothing can heal us of the sexual abuse and rape we suffered; we were touched, pinched, kicked, hit with fists, batons, and shields on our breasts, buttocks, and genitals. while they continued threatening us we were bitten on the breasts, nipples, ears, lips, tongue, etc.; some of us were penetrated with fingers and objects, some were forced to perform oral sex, all of this while they made fun of us as women.
  
  in addition to being subjected to this abuse, we continue to be victims of medical negligence. some of us should have been bandaged and cured since the day we arrived, some of us have vaginal infections, others infections in our wounds, others of us can’t even sit down because of the blows we received, and despite all this we continue in hunger strike, because we will not take one step back in this struggle, because we want justice for all, for everyone, because if we must fight from this prison that is what we will do. we continue to stand in struggle!
  we demand our liberation!
  we demand justice for the physical and sexual abuse and rape!
  may no one be indifferent to the pain that we have lived!

• aslinda meksika'nin muzir cocugu atenco'dan degil de texcoco'da baslayan hadiseler silsilesi.
  
  texcoco sehri belediyesi, sehrin kaldirimlarinda herhangi bir lisansi/izni olmadan yasadisi olarak cicek satmak isteyen (bizdeki seyyar saticilar veya degnekciler gibi denilebilir) bir grubun uzaklastirilmasi icin polisten yardim ister. bu kararin alinmasinda, vergi veren ve dolayisiyla vergi vermeyen bu saticilarin haksiz rekabetinden rahatsiz olan is cevrelerinin oldugu soylenmektedir.
  
  yerel hukumetin karari dogrultusunda polis bu saticilarin yasadisi olarak cicek satmalarina engel olur. bunun uzerine bu cicek saticilari, civardaki atenco sehrinin yagiz delikanlilarindan yardim ister. bu minvalde atenco sehrinin ayni yagiz delikanlilarinin, zapatistalarin destegiyle daha once de bolgede cesitli eylemlere karismis, bu gibi eylemlerde tecrubeli kimseler olduklarini hatirlatalim. texcoco'lu cicekcilerin 35 kilometre otedeki atenco'ya siginmalari pek tesadufi degildir yani.
  
  atenco'nun gencleri ve saticilar, polise pala, bicak ve ev yapimi el bombasi gibi silahlarla saldirir. cikan olaylarda 6 polis memuru rehin alinir, 50'ye yakin polis memuru yaralanir. 2 gosterici hayatini kaybeder.
  
  bunun uzerine bolgeye gonderilen federal polisin tepkisi ise cok sert ve vahsidir: yargisiz infazdan tecavuze, iskenceye kadar varan suclamalarla karsi karsiya kalirlar, meksika insan haklari komisyonu tarafindan.
