hikaye* :
hikayenin ana kahramani mainz manastirinda dominiken kilisesi ogrencisi olan genc gabriel laymann. 1602 yilinda gabriel kilise uyelerinin geri kalaniyla birlikte cadi avlarinda yer almaktadir. fakat uvey karde$i anna held'in cadi olup olmadiginin belirlenmesi icin deney yapilmasina hazirlanilirken bu durumdan $uphe etmeye ba$lar. gizlice kutuphaneye girip yasaklanmi$ bir kitabi okur. manevi rehberi friar jacob onu farkeder ve gabriel zindana atilir.
zindanda kendini bir druid olarak tanitan ya$li lugaid vandroiy ile kar$ila$ir. gabriel'e cok buyuk bir tehlike altinda olan diger bir boyuttan, avantasia dunyasindan bahseder. gabriel'e kendisine yardim etmesi kar$iliginda anna'yi kurtarmayi teklif eder. birlikte zindandan kacmayi ba$arirlar ve vandroiy gabriel'i bir ta$ ocagina goturur. bu ta$ ocagi iki boyut arasinda geci$i saglayan bir kapiyi gizlemektedir. bu kapiyi gabriel'i avantasia'ya gondermek icin kullanir.
bu esnada mainz kilisesi piskoposu johann adam von bicken, friar jacob ve bailiff falk von kronberg, papa 8. clement'i ziyaret etmek icin roma'ya dogru yola cikmi$lardir. beraberlerinde gabriel'in okudugu kitap da bulunmaktadir. eski yazmalara gore bu kitap, avantasia'nin ortasindaki kuleye goturulurse sahibine bilgelik veren yedi parcalik mührün sonuncusudur.
gabriel avantasia'ya vardiginda, orada ya$amakta olan elf elderane ve cüce regrin tarafindan kar$ilanir. ona kotuluge kar$i yapilan sava$tan, papa'nin planindan ve bunun olasi sonuclarindan bahsederler. eger papa mührü kullanirsa avantasia ve dunya arasindaki baglanti kopacak ve her iki dunya icin de son derece yikici sonuclar ortaya cikacaktir. gabriel kuleye tam da papa icerideki gizemli bir sesle konu$urken yeti$ir. mührü calmayi ba$arir ve ortaya cikan karma$adan da yararlanarak onu elf $ehrine geri getirmeyi ba$arir.
