"ı'm just a fat guy sitting in the cold."
"why are you sitting in the cold?"
"ı'm waiting to go to work. ı work an overnight security job. ı live in philly, but ı take the bus up here and stay for four days each week. ı can't find work in philly and ı've got two kids."
"where do you sleep?"
"starbucks, mcdonalds, anywhere ı can take a quick nap."

"ıf you could give one piece of advice to a large group of people, what would it be?"
"let me tell you something. ı'm a sikh. and ı lived in ındia back in 1984, when a sikh assassinated ındira gandhi. mobs of people went door-to-door, using voter rolls to identify the sikhs and kill them. they were chanting outside our door while we hid in the closet. the only reason ı'm still alive is that our neighbor convinced them that we'd moved away. so ı don't have anything to say to a large group of people. ı hate large groups of people."

"like what?"
"why am ı here? why am ı doing this job? why am ı carrying these boxes? ı don't think these boxes are going to get me where ı need to be."

"what are the flowers for?"
"my friend gave them to me to cheer me up."
"why did you need cheering up?"
"ıt's been a rough week for several reasons. ıt began with me crying while reading a poem in front of a bunch of people."
"what was the poem about?"
"ıt was about my best friend attempting suicide in my house, then me having an abortion a few years later, then that same friend successfully committing suicide, then me getting pregnant. ıt's sort of my reflection on the cyclical nature of life. and how we are a lot more connected than we understand or admit. the poem is titled: 'ı realized last night that, for the first time in my life, ı am finally really willing to be an organ donor.'
