bill monroe

• bluegrass müziğin yaratıcısı, grand ole opry'nin devamlı konuklarından, bir döneme ve bir türe damgasını vurmuş ünlü sanatçı. 1911 senesinde kentucky'de müziğe ilgili bir ailede dünyaya gelmiş. 27 yaşında ilk grubu "the blue grass boys"u kurmuş ve grupla beraber geliştirdikleri bluegrass türünü bizlere katmış. monroe grubunu doğup büyüdüğü kasaba rosine'den ilham alarak isimlendirmiş ve çaldıkları müzik türüne de grubunun adını vermiş. 1996 senesinde vefat edene değin de müzik kariyerine devam etmiş.
