• john grant'ın the czars'dan ayrıldıktan sonra yayınladığı ilk solo albümü. ilk dinlediğim andan itibaren bana john lennon'ın ilk solo albümü john lennon plastic ono band'i hatırlattı. bu müzikal anlamda değil sözlerin içeriği açısından bir benzerlik. gavurların frankness dediği şey, john lennon'ın albümünde de olduğu gibi, grant'ın sözlerinde, özellikle son dört şarkıda, çok belirgin bir şekilde ortada. albümün grant'ın alkol ve uyuşturucu bağımlılığı ve gay olduğunu açıklaması yüzünden yaşadığı bunalımın ardından yazılması bu durumun nedeni olabilir tabii ki.
  
  albümde folk grubu midlake ile çalışmış grant^*. müzikal olarak midlake'inkin sound'undan daha atak bir albüm çıkmış ortaya. ama insanın suratına ilk çarpan şey grant'ın sözleri oluyor elbette. albümün tracklist'i şöyledir;

  kısacası 2010'un en iyi albümlerinden biridir bu. çok içten bir albüm.
• grant'ın duygusal kanaması diyebiliriz.
• grant'ın kusturacak seviyede içten albümü. genel olarak gördüğüm kadarıyla gayet realist bakış açısına sahip parçalar. birilerine laf sokma dürtüsü içerikli genelde, aynı isimde şarkısı da dahil.
  
  aynı zamanda, daha çok tanınması için, daha iyi bir site ve pazarlamaya ihtiyacı olduğunu düşünmekteyim. tamam samimiyet önemli, orijinal olmak güzel. ama tanıtım yoksa, arkalarda kalıyorsun böyle. grant belki çıkar, bunun hakkında da şarkı yapar ama yeterli değil. pazarlamadan dem vurmak yerine, bir şey yapsa iyi olur.
