• gorgon kelimesinin ibranice menşeili bir hece olan "gr" dan ve bir fiil olan grrlamaktan geldiği de söylenmekte ve bu kelime, tek bir kızkardeşten ziyade kızkardeşlerin üçüne de işaret etmektedir.
