• charles mingus'un, lester young için yazdığı üstün parça... jeff beck'ten erkan oğur'a, john mclaughlin'den stanley clarke'a, gil evans'tan andy summers'a, marcus miller'a neredeyse herkes en az bir kez yorumlamıştır. özgün biçimi 1959 yılı albümü "mingus ah um"dadır. biraz daha değişik ama ilki gibi güzel bir başka yorumu da, yine mingus'un, 1977 albümü "three or four shades of blues"da bulunabilir. bu son albümün yapımcısı ilhan mimaroğlu'dur.

• lester young'ın ölüm haberi geldikten sonra mingus'un eve giderek piyano başında sabaha karşı bestelediği içli blues.
• charles mingus bu parçayı 1963 yılı albümü "mingus, mingus, mingus, mingus, mingus"ta da yorumlamıştır. bu yorumun gözlerden kaçmasının nedeni albümdeki adının "theme for lester young" olmasıdır sanırım. en azından benim için öyle...
